Life in America - What does it all mean?

Now that you have completed organizing your thoughts about the three texts we have been working with, it is time to begin a “mini-compare/contrast” essay. However, rather than writing an essay, you are going to be composing a blog entry.

Your Task:
Compare and Contrast TWO of the three texts we have been working with by writing three paragraphs about the significance in the different views portrayed about America.

What to include:
The titles of the two texts you will compare and contrast.
1 paragraph about the similarities in the two texts.
1 paragraph about the differences in the two texts.
1 paragraph reflecting on what this (the fact that they are different) suggests about life in America.

There are similarties between all the texts. All of the texts talk about immagration. They all also talk about what life for immagrants is like. And lastly they all talk about America as a whole.
The texts are also differnt.

I will compare and contrast the story called "The new colossus" by Emma Lazarus and "Let america be america again" by Langston Hughes. these two stories are the same because they both talk about america and opportunities. The new colossue talks about liberty and the other story talks about equaltiies.
These two stories are diffrent because they talk about how diffrent people do things in america .

1:Both of the texts are the same because they both talk about the American life and how it has changed people for better or for worse. They both show different sides of America and different point of views.
2:The texts are different because one text talk about the bad things in America and about slavery,And the other text talk about the good things about how America give immigrants a new life and help them live out their American dream.
3:That sometimes people get the good part of America and sometimes people get the bad part.Etheir way America is still America and that some people come to America for different things.

These poems have many similarities and I'm here to talk to you about a few of them. For instance, all the of the poems talk about America. This shows all of there love for America. It also shows there personal outlook on what they do and do not like about America. Some people agree with what Americac does and some people do not agree to what America does. Which shows hat everyone has a different outlook on what America means to them.

There was also many differences between all of these poems. Example, people think differently they say that they all love the country but for different reasons. The one poem, "Let America Be America Again", tells how he doesn't like how the slaves were treated. But at the same time the poem, "The New Colossus", talks about how the Statue of Liberty stands for liberty, freedom and pride. Within all these poems have a meaning and all of the meanings are different.

I will be comparing the two stories about America which have two different sides to a story. I will be comparing "The New Colossus" and "Let America Be America Again". These two poems have such a different way of how they feel about America its clearly visable to see without even stating the first few sentences. The story " The New Colossus" is a poem about a immigrants first thought of coming to America to see the statue of liberty. They describe it as a beutiful strong statue that brings hope to all that come within its gaze and such. These people thought America would be a beautiful new start because they found the statue of liberty to be a sign of hope and to let go of their worries. The poem also shows the statue doing things it doesnt do, thats because the immigrants saw the unbelievable sight to be something to describe detail by detail. Even things that didnt exist on the actual statue like her voice were just to describe the hopefulness she brought as if she had a voice and all these other signs. The poem is almost the complete difference of the next poem "Let America be America again" The poem "Let America Be America Again" is the negative view of America through the eyes of someone who saw the evils that America had. Through slavery, to racism and such other things that were described in the poem. In the begining however it talked about how America should be itself again. Like where there would be no kings and how it should be truely free, however it talked about the negative things abiut it. Clearly these poems are against each other on how it views America.

Both of these poems have a similar idea, what America is like. They both state historical events that are very important to America. “The New Colossus” talks about the all of the times when foreigners move here to have a better life. At the same time, "Let America Be America Again", talks about slavery, and driving the natives out of their land. Both refer to real American events.

While these poems have the same subject, they both have complete different view points on America. "The New Colossus" shows the good in America, when it talks about us inviting people from other countries to provide them with a better life. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe."

The two poems means something but they both have different ideas about America.

They both are the same because they both are talking about America. Both Emma and Langston wants America to change but they have different views. Langston Hughes wants things to be the same about America and Emma Lazarus wants America to change their ways. Both of them think America is a good place but they dont think America will ever change.

Both of the poems are different because Emma dont want America to change she wants things to stay the same and Langston wants things to change because now and days things are ruff and hard. Langston wants America to be how it was back in the day but he does not want the slavery to happen again. Even though its still going on in certain countries. Emma's point of view she does not really care about America but she wants them to help the homeless and wants America to change their ways about how they treat certain people in America or the people that comes to America.

It suggests that America is a good place but it just need some changes. America can be around for another millions of years but they just need to make changes because they probably will loose some people and they will probably leave to go to another country or state. I know America dont want people to leave so they just need to get things together and not make people feel uncomfortable when they enter America.

Those are the 3 paragraphs about America and the 2 poems.
